Lisa Belsky is an award winning multi-media artist, working in porcelain, fiber, watercolor and ink. Her work explores themes of connection, preservation of memory, traditions, and the passage of time. She incorporates knitting and crocheting techniques into her work. The processes of knitting and crocheting has been an important part of her life since childhood and was passed down through generations of women in her family.
Lisa received her BFA from Tyler School of Art and her MFA from the Ohio State University. She currently lives and works in Philadelphia, PA. She works as the Assistant Director of Black Hound Clay Studio and also teaches community wheel throwing classes. In the past she taught ceramics and contemporary crafts courses at several universities including the Ohio State University, the Columbus College of Art & Design, Capital University and Otterbein University.
In 2017 she was recognized as one of Ceramics Monthly Magazine's Emerging Artists. She received the award for Excellence In Clay at the 41st Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. Her work has been featured in several international ceramics publications. She exhibits her artwork nationwide and is currently represented by Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville, NC and Abel Contemporary Gallery in Stoughton, WI
